Toogle plate in jaw crusher, also known as jaw crusher toggle plate, toggle plate and jaw dies are all important jaw crusher parts, Although the toggle plate is simple, it plays a very important role. The jaw crusher toggle plate not only transmits power to support the swinging motion of the lower end of the movable jaw but also serves as a safety device for the jaw crusher. When the crushing chamber encounters difficult-to-crush materials, the toggle plate breaks first, thereby protecting the valuable components of the machine (such as the movable jaw and the body) from damage. In some simple pendulum jaw crushers, the discharge outlet size is adjusted by replacing toggle plates of different lengths.

  1. By assembled structral: Toggle plates can be classified into two types: assembled and integral, based on their structural composition. The toggle plate used in a simple pendulum jaw crusher is of an assembled structure, which is assembled by connecting a toggle plate body with two toggle plate heads. This allows for the replacement of only the easily worn-out and scrapped toggle plate heads, saving on consumable metal. In practical applications, due to the weight of this type of toggle plate, lifting loops should be designed. On the other hand, a compound pendulum jaw crusher uses an integral toggle plate because of its smaller weight and size.
  2. By connection between head and pad of toggle plate: According to the connection type between the toggle plate head and the toggle plate pad, there are two types: rolling type and sliding type. The toggle plate bears significant squeezing forces and is subjected to cyclic impact loads. Under repeated impact and squeezing, wear occurs relatively quickly, especially in sliding-type structures. To improve transmission efficiency, reduce wear parts, and extend the service life, a rolling-type structure can be used. During the operation of the machine, the swing angle of the movable jaw is small, resulting in a small angle between the surfaces of the toggle plate pad supported at both ends. As a result, pure rolling can be maintained between the toggle plate and its pad, improving the wear of the toggle plate and greatly extending its service life.

How to design toggle plate in jaw crusher?

Elbow head and elbow pad have two general structural forms: rolling type and sliding type. The selection should be based on the actual needs.

  • Changing the mating surface shape: Based on the analysis of the motion of the compound pendulum jaw crusher, the movement of the elbow plate is a simple swinging motion, which belongs to a hinged swinging component. During the operation of the crusher, the elbow pad may deform due to long-term impact, making it difficult to remove during replacement. To solve this problem, the shape of the mating surface can be modified.
  • Using better materials: The structural forms of the elbow plate can be integral or assembled. Considering the performance requirements during operation, the elbow pad must withstand significant impact forces and therefore should be made from high-quality materials.
  • Installing a dustproof plate: In order to reduce friction between the elbow pad and elbow head, lubricating oil is regularly injected between the mating surfaces. Additionally, it is necessary to prevent dust and fine materials from entering the joint. Therefore, a dustproof plate should be installed on the upper part of the joint.
  • Working environment: During the operation of the crusher, there is limited lubrication between the elbow plate and its supporting liner. Furthermore, the presence of dust exacerbates the situation. As a result, the elbow plate and its elbow pad experience dry friction and abrasive wear. This high load pressure on the liner leads to rapid wear of the elbow plate, resulting in a short lifespan. Therefore, the structural design of the elbow plate should not only consider its important role but also take into account the working environment.

Toggle plate fracture.

Causes: The discharge outlet size is too small, leading to material jamming. The equipment encounters iron objects. The toggle plate and toggle pad are not parallel and have deviation. The casting has severe casting defects.

Solution: Adjust the size of the discharge outlet to prevent material jamming. Install iron blocking devices to prevent crushing of iron objects. Replace the toggle plate and worn toggle pad, and correctly install the toggle plate. Replace with qualified toggle plates.

Severe wear of the toggle plate seat.

Causes: Foreign objects mixed in, causing wear of the toggle plate seat.

Solution: Regularly clean foreign objects, check the toggle plate seat for foreign object contamination every two days, and lubricate the toggle plate seat with lubricating grease to prevent foreign object contamination.

Toggle plate detachment.

Causes: Oversized feed material causing impact detachment. Insufficient tension of the spring. Improper material feeding position resulting in direct impact on the upper movable jaw cover, causing liner dislodgement.

Solution: The material feed should be uniform and appropriately sized, and the feeding position should act on the back wall of the hopper instead of directly impacting the upper movable jaw cover. Adjust the tension of the spring appropriately.

Toggle plate bending and fracture

Causes: Insufficient tension of the tension spring. Feed material size does not meet requirements. Foreign objects jam at the bottom of the crushing cavity. Improper and unreasonable installation of the toggle plate.

Solution: Adjust the tension of the spring. Control the feed material size. Install a foreign object jam detection device in the crushing cavity to timely remove iron or other foreign objects. Ensure smooth and flat surface during elbow plate installation, and perform timely maintenance and repair of the toggle plate seat.

Impact sound from the toggle plate support pad

Causes: Insufficient tension of the spring. Wear or looseness of the support pad.

Solution: Adjust the spring tension or replace the spring. Tighten or correct the support pad.
